Can a king move into check?

No. It is illegal to make any move that leaves your own king in check — including moving the king onto a square attacked by an enemy piece. If you have no legal move and you are in check, it's checkmate; if you have no legal move and you are not in check, it's stalemate (a draw).

Put it into practice.
