Two rooks against a lone king is the simplest checkmate to learn — you don't even need your own king.
Use one rook to cut the king off on a rank, then the other rook checks on the next rank, forcing the king back. Each rook 'covers' a rank while the other drives the king toward the edge — like climbing a ladder.
If the enemy king approaches a rook, simply slide that rook to the far end of its rank, out of reach, and continue the ladder from there.
Drive the king to the back rank; the rook giving the final check, with the other rook covering the escape rank, delivers checkmate. There's no stalemate risk with two rooks if you keep one rank free for the king until mate.
This is a great first mate to teach — clean, fast, and hard to get wrong.
