Sicilian Dragon

1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 d6 3.d4 cxd4 4.Nxd4 Nf6 5.Nc3 g6

The Sicilian Dragon is one of the sharpest and most exciting openings in chess. Black fianchettoes the bishop to g7, creating the powerful 'Dragon Bishop' — a long-range piece that rakes across the h8-a1 diagonal. This opening leads to some of the most exciting attacking games ever played.

The Yugoslav Attack (7.Be3 0-0 8.Qd2 Nc6 9.Bc4 Bd7 10.0-0-0) is White's main weapon: a headlong mutual attack where White storms the kingside with g4-g5 while Black counters with ...a5, ...Rb8, and ...b5. Both sides literally race to checkmate the opponent's king — one tempo can decide the game.
