What is overloading in chess?

Overloading is when one enemy piece is given too many defensive jobs at once. By attacking one of its duties — capturing a piece it guards, for instance — you 'overload' it: it can't cover everything, so something falls. Spotting overloaded defenders is a key step in finding combinations.
