What is a windmill in chess?

A windmill (or see-saw) is a repeating combination of discovered checks where a piece — usually a rook — keeps giving and uncovering check, capturing material on each cycle while the enemy king is forced to shuffle back and forth. It can win huge amounts of material before the opponent escapes.
